As a nutrient-dense herb, alfalfa is an excellent tonic for the body. It contains protein, calcium, vitamins C, D, E, K and some B, iron, magnesium, & copper, to name a few. It also contains fiber & saponins, which give way to a cholesterol lowering effect. It’s diuretic action makes it useful for lowering blood pressure, and it also lowers blood sugar. Breast-feeding mothers can use alfalfa to boost milk production and nutrient content.
