Description
Olive oil. Water. Lye. Minimum six months of cure. That’s the whole ingredient list.
This is real castile soap in the classical Spanish tradition, made from a single fat and aged the way it was made for centuries before industrial soapmaking replaced slow craft with fast chemistry. Most modern “castile” soaps are coconut and palm oil blends. This bar is olive oil alone, cured for six months to fully saponify and mellow into something that lathers softly, feels creamy on the skin, and cleanses without stripping.
There is no fragrance. No essential oil. No colorant. No superfat additive. No clay, no botanicals. The lather is naturally low and silky, not the aggressive foam that comes from added detergents. This is what soap felt like before we forgot.
Ideal for dry, sensitive, or reactive skin. Safe for the face. Suitable for children and infants. Long-lasting because the six-month cure hardens the bar, so it doesn’t dissolve quickly in the shower.
Ingredients
Olive oil, water, sodium hydroxide (lye, none remaining after saponification)
Suggested use
Wet the bar, work into a lather in your hands or on a washcloth, and use as you would any soap. Face, body, hands. For hair, follow with an acidic rinse (apple cider vinegar diluted in water) if your water is hard.
Care
Store on a well-drained soap dish out of standing water. Kept dry between uses, this bar will last for months.
Handcrafted in small batches and cured for six months in Fort Collins, Colorado.
