Description
This online herbalism course is a four-module self-paced foundation in the working art of traditional Western herbalism, built from a college curriculum that I’ve taught for going on five years and counting, and have made accessible to anyone drawn to plant medicine.
There is a kind of knowing that lives in the hands of people who tend their gardens, gather their wild plants, and care for their families through every season of life. It is older than pharmacy. It is older than the modern medical system. It was carried for thousands of years through generations of grandmothers and grandfathers, midwives, root workers, monks, healers, and village herbalists, kept alive in kitchens and birthing rooms and apothecary gardens long after the institutions tried to suppress it.
This course is your way back in.
Becoming an Herbalist is a complete online herbalism course in the working art of plant medicine. Over four modules, you will learn to read the body as a living climate, to recognize the elemental intelligence of plants, to extract medicine with intention, and to formulate complete preparations with structure and precision. By the time you finish, you will not simply know what herbs do. You will know how to think with plants, how to match them to people, and how to build medicine with confidence in your own kitchen.
This is the course I wish someone had handed me when I began. It is rigorous enough to give you a real foundation and accessible enough to meet you where you are. Whether you are new to herbal medicine or you have been studying for years without a structured framework, this course will give you the working language and the pattern-based thinking that turns scattered knowledge into a practice.
What You Will Learn in This Herbalism Course
Module 1: The Elemental Body. Read your own constitution and the constitutions of the people you love. Learn to assess temperature, moisture, and tone. Understand the difference between symptom and pattern, and why so much herbal protocol fails when this distinction is missed.
Module 2: The Language of Plants. Meet the foundational plants of the Western materia medica through flavor, energetics, organ affinity, action, and signature. Build your first direct relationships with five teaching plants.
Module 3: Solvents and Extraction Science. Learn why what you extract determines what the plant does. Master the five primary solvents, the major constituent classes, and the extraction methods that turn a plant into precisely the medicine you intend.
Module 4: Formulating, Compounding, and Dosing. Build complete formulas using the quaternary framework of lead, supporting herb, driver, and synergist. Learn how to compound by percentage, how to choose the right preparation for the situation, and how to dose with judgment rather than guesswork.

Who This Herbalism Course Is For
This course is for the home herbalist who wants a real foundation. For the parent who wants to care for their family with plants instead of pharmaceuticals where possible. For the practitioner of an adjacent modality who wants to add herbal literacy to their work. For anyone who senses that a deep knowledge has been lost and is ready to participate in its recovery. For anyone drawn to the plants and ready to begin.
It is not a clinical training program and it does not replace medical care. It is the working foundation that gives you the language, the framework, and the confidence to begin practicing as a home herbalist.
About This Course and Its Origin
This online herbalism course is built from the curriculum I have been teaching at the college level for the past five years. The same pattern-based framework, the same foundational material, and the same pedagogy I have refined classroom by classroom, semester by semester, are the bones of what you will find here. The lessons have been adapted for self-paced learning at home, and the program has been shaped for the home herbalist rather than the clinical student, but the depth and rigor of the original work runs through it.
I have made this course available outside the institutional setting because plant medicine belongs to the people. The knowledge in this curriculum should not be reachable only by those who can afford college tuition, who live near a school that offers it, or who can take years away from their lives to pursue a degree. The herbalists who built this tradition over centuries did not gatekeep it. Neither will I.
This course is offered at an accessible price by design. Plant medicine was carried through centuries of suppression by people who refused to let the knowledge die, and it does not belong locked behind a paywall that only a few can cross. The course is priced so that anyone who needs this knowledge can afford to access it.
